With over 30 overlooks located between the 2 highest points on the 469 mile span of the Blue Ridge Parkway, chasing the perfect sunset can be a challenged!
What to expect:
The tour begins and ends in the Oakley Neighborhood at the Fairview Road Resilience Garden.
Founded in March of 2020, the Resilience Garden began in response to the many unknowns that were brought on by the pandemic. The plan was simple, break ground on an empty lot, plant food, and give 100% of it away to those in need. The garden is now in its 4th growing season and continues to be a focal point of community building within Asheville’s largest neighborhood.
From East Asheville, we’ll make our way to the heart of down Downtown AVL where we’ll explore the urban oasis known as "Elder & Sage Community Gardens”.
The 3rd and final garden on our tour is located across the river in West Asheville, and is a true gem to say the least!
“Founded in 2003 as a peaceful response to the war in Iraq and the war on drugs in the States, Burton Street Community Peace Gardens is a labor of love in the heart of the Burton Street Community. From its humble beginnings as an overgrown lot filled with discarded 40-ounce bottles, the Gardens are home to vegetable and flower gardening sites, performative stage area, fire pit, cob pizza oven, greenhouse, and pavilion”
50% of all ticket proceeds are reinvested back into the gardens we visit!
